Team 94

Team 94 was established to provide student athletes the opportunity to develop their basketball skills through hard work and professional skill development.  It has long been the assumption that all elite high school basketball players in California come from AAU teams such as Nike, Adidas or Team Reebok, i.e., Big Sponsored teams etc. TEAM 94 has challenged that way of thinking each year with a group of student athletes that have been chosen to represent some of California's best underrated high school talent.  In California there are many athletes that never fulfill their athletic potential due to the lack of true coaching and skill development.  Team 94 provides that opportunity to young athletes, helps them excel in a sport they love and raise awareness of the tremendous amount of underrated basketball talent coming from California and International communities.  These young men have the opportunity to compete on a national level through various tournaments across the country and will be watched by many basketball fans, along with hundreds of college coaches who are looking to improve their own college programs.  Team 94 isn't just about playing games in the spring and summer its about developing skills and improving every players game.  Coach Handy learned from experience that spring and summer are when players are made...the fall is when Teams are made.  ALWAYS TRAINING, ALWAYS LEARNING, ALWAYS GROWING...REGARDLESS.

Success

In its first year (2006) Team 94 consisted of the top 10 MCAL (Marin County) high school players. This team went on to compete at the national level and opened the eyes of many college coaches around the nation ending with an impressive record of 27-6 and 2 tournament titles.  In 2007 Team 94 showed the resolve of a solid program in the making by posting a 25-9 record without having a single top 10 ranked player on the roster…Playing in tournaments such as the Visions Sports Easter Classic, Vision Sports Spring Showcase, Houston Kingwood Classic, Denton Shootout and others.  2008 proved to be another great year for Team 94 as 5 seniors earned full scholarship honors to major Div. 1 Universities across the nation.  Team 94 posted a solid record of 21-10 on the season and continued to make waves on the national scene with hard work, great team play and sharp fundamental skills that drew attention of many college coaches.  Continued success followed in 2009 on the national scene as Team 94 posted a 24-11 record while winning 2 tournament titles and expanding its success rate of getting players to the next level.  2010 began in great fashion as Team 94 got off to 16-3 start with wins over Rockfish, IEBP All-Stars, San Diego Magic and Team Chandler. One of the most talented Team 94 squads finished up with a 31-8 record with impressive wins over Carolina Elite, DC Assault, Worldwide Renegades, Arizona Stars, MBA Hoops Elite and more.  2010 was a display of talent, fundamentals and hard work by Team 94 playing in South Carolina, Vegas, Texas and Arizona.  5 scholarship commits to the University of Pacific (Stockton, CA), Northeastern University (Boston, MA), UC Santa Barbara, St. Mary’s College (Moraga, CA) and Sonoma St.

ON THE NATIONAL SCENE Team 94 in 2011 is ranked #4 nationally for all non-shoe sponsored teams among the top 30 overall for all AAU teams across the country!  "The 2011 AAU Season has kicked off for Team 94 in great fashion with an 18-2 start, their losses coming to top programs in the nation...a 3 point nail biting game to #5 nationally ranked Drew Gooden Soldiers and a hard fought loss to top 10 ranked California Supreme in the Rose City Showcase Championship.  Team 94 has empressive wins against #1 nationally ranked Team Takeover (Nike), New York Gauchos (Nike), Philly's Finest, Boo Williams (Nike) and another top ranked team, Indy Speice (Nike).  With back to back tournament titles already on the 2011 resume, following up a great 2010 year is proving to be in the works as this is one of the most well balanced and skilled Team 94 rosters.  Early signings have already taken place with 6' 9" forward, Will Davis and 6' 5" guard, Travis Souza committing to UC Irvine.  6' 3" combo guard with great skills, Khufu Najee, headed to San Jose State, super rebounding guard, Robbie Herndon committing to San Francisco State and athletic wing, Chuks Iroegbu heading to Washington State.  The expectations of this years team has 3 D1 caliber unsigned seniors (2011) and a crop of Northern California's top 2012 and 2013 prospects.  Coach Handy and Team 94 are looking forward to another successful summer making visits to Portland (Rose City Classic), South Carolina, West Virginia, Las Vegas and Arizona."

Road to Education

In only 5 years Team 94 has produced 32 scholarship players attending Santa Clara, Hartford (3), Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (2), UCSB (2), Cal St Northridge, Sacramento St., Eastern Kentucky, Stanford, St. Mary’s College, Cal St. East Bay, University of Toledo, San Francisco St., UC Irvine, Lafayette (2), UC Davis (2), UOP (2), San Jose St. (2), USF, Utah Valley St, Northeastern University, Sonoma St., Cal Poly Pomona and the University of Denver with more to come!  By creating a full scale program and integrating advanced training with a high level of AAU competition through practice and play, Team 94 develops players in all areas of the fundamentals of the game!
